Social Worker
The Social Worker in the Libraries program is designed to help people identify the appropriate agency, service and how to apply for assistance. Social workers travel among Volusia County's public libraries to meet individually with residents to identify their specific needs and guide them to the appropriate agency.

A resident is encouraged to meet with a social worker, regardless of their need, to identify potential resources. Information and referrals may be generated for, including but not limited to, the following areas:
- Food/ SNAP/ WIC
- Housing Information
- Employment
- Health Insurance
- Legal
- Substance Abuse
- Mental Health
Bicycle Transportation:
If you are an adult in need of a bicycle for transportation purposes, the library offers the Pedal Forward Project which provides refurbished bicycles to deserving parties. Book an appointment with a social worker to learn more.
M. Crutchfield just received a Pedal Forward Program bicycle from the Social Worker in Libraries initiative. Ms. Crutchfield attends Daytona State College’s Fresh Start transitional program with the ultimate goal of becoming a medical assistant. The bicycle will allow her to not only continue her schooling but will afford her the ability to get to job interviews.
